Something is in the wrong language
Why the screen, an answer, a sermon text or a recording is in a language you didn’t expect, and where each one is changed.
On this page
Four things have a language of their own: the words on the screen, an answer, a sermon’s text and a recording. They are chosen separately, so one can differ from the others. Find yours below.
What decides each language
| What you see | Decided by | Change it |
|---|---|---|
| The buttons and menus | Site language on the website, App language in the app | Settings |
| An answer | The language you write the question in | Write the question in the language you want |
| A sermon’s text | Your Sermon languages, and the language you pick in the reader | Settings, and the Read menu in the reader |
| A recording | The text you are reading, then English | Listen in in the player |

Answers
An answer is written in the language of your question, whatever language the site is in. A very short question, a name or a code can’t be told apart: the answer then follows the conversation so far, and a new conversation follows the language of the site.
- In French or English, the answer comes from the texts in that language. While you type, a line may say This question will be answered in French, even though the site stays in English. (in the app, “the app stays”), with a button to switch the site or the app too.
- In Spanish, Portuguese or Chinese, the answer comes from the sermons published in that language, and a Chinese answer is in the characters of the question, Simplified or Traditional. A line under it says how many more sermons the search found only in English, with a button, See the answer from the English.
- In any other language, the answer is in English: Brother Branham’s sermons are not published in Italian yet, so this answer is in English.
- If nothing is found and your question is in the other language, you see Nothing found in the French texts. Your question is in English. with a button, Ask it in English, that asks the same question again in that language.
Texts and recordings
A sermon opens in the language of the site when it has one, and in English otherwise, with a line saying so: This sermon is not in Spanish yet, so it is shown in English, which holds every sermon. Sermon languages, in Settings, chooses up to five languages for texts and recordings. The Read menu switches the sermon you have open.
A recording follows the text you are reading, then English: No recording in French. Playing in English. See Choose your languages and Read in another language or version.
I wrote in French on the English site, and the answer is in French. Is that right?
Yes. Each answer follows the language of its question. Use the button the site offers (for example Switch to English) if you want the site to follow too.
My question in Italian was answered in English.
His sermons are not published in Italian yet, so the answer is made from the English texts and says so.
A sermon opens in English although my site is in Spanish.
That sermon is not published in Spanish yet, so English, which holds every sermon, stands in.
The recording is in English, but I read in French.
That sermon has no French recording, so the English one plays. See A recording won’t play.
