Read in another language or version
Switch a sermon between English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese at the same sentence, and learn what the codes VGR, SHP, MH and MH-B mean.
On this page
Many sermons exist in more than one language, and some in more than one translation of the same language. You switch from the sermon itself, and the new text opens at the sentence you were reading.

The Read menu under the sermon’s title switches too, and lists every version under its language. It shows the language and version you are reading, for example EN · VGR, and it appears when the sermon has more than one text.
The list holds the languages you chose, up to five. When the sermon also exists in another, the list ends with More languages…, where you can add one. See Choose your languages.
Versions
Some sermons exist in more than one version in the same language. The list names each version by a short code, and a sermon opens in the first one listed.
| Code | What it is |
|---|---|
| VGR | The text that goes with the recordings, in English and in every language it is translated into. |
| SHP | A second French translation. |
| MH | A further translation in Spanish, in the Portuguese of Portugal and in Traditional Chinese, and the only one in Simplified Chinese. |
| MH-B | A translation in the Portuguese of Brazil. |
Read along, where the words light up as they are said, follows the VGR texts only, because the recordings are VGR’s. See Read along.
Which languages exist
English holds every sermon, and French and Simplified Chinese nearly all of them. Spanish, Portuguese and Traditional Chinese hold part of them. No other language is offered.
A sermon that does not exist in your language opens in English, with a short note saying so.
Why did the sermon open in English?
It does not exist in your language yet. English holds every sermon, so it opens there with a note. Where a text in your language exists, the note links to it.
Why is the language I want not in the list?
The list shows only the languages you chose, up to five. Choose More languages… at its end to add one. See Something is in the wrong language.
Which version should I choose?
A sermon opens in the first version listed. The others are there to compare, and Side by side shows two at once. See Read two texts side by side.
Does the site change language when I change the sermon’s?
No. The menus keep your site language. The index and the search follow the language you read.
