Fullscreen Reading and landscape full screen
Let the bars and the player slide away as you read, or give a phone’s whole screen to the text, held sideways.
On this page
Two features clear the screen so the text has all the room. Fullscreen Reading lets the bars and the player slide away as you scroll, on every screen. Landscape full screen is for phones: the text alone, held sideways.
Fullscreen Reading
It is a switch in the sermon’s ☰ menu, off until you turn it on. Each device keeps its own choice.
- Open a sermon, then its ☰ menu.
- Turn on Fullscreen Reading.
- Scroll down: the bar at the top and the player slide away. Scroll up a little: they come back.
The bars also slide away as the page follows a recording with Read along. They come back when you scroll up, when the title or the end of the text is on screen, and while a menu, a selection or a note is open.
Landscape full screen on a phone
On a phone, the ☰ menu offers Landscape full screen: the text alone, at the size you read it, with no bars and no player, and the phone held sideways.
Web
- Open the ☰ menu and choose Landscape full screen.
- Turn your phone sideways. If it is held upright, a short note asks you to.
- Read, and tap a sentence to highlight it or copy it.
- Tap the ✕ at the top right to leave.
App
- Open the ☰ menu and choose Landscape full screen.
- The screen turns sideways by itself.
- Read, and tap a sentence to highlight it or copy it.
- Tap the ✕ at the top right to leave.
A small pill floats at the bottom: it holds the recording’s play button once a recording has started and, when you tap a sentence, the colours and the other actions. Drag it by its grip to move it.
Which one is which
| Name | Where | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Fullscreen Reading | Every screen, a switch in the ☰ menu | The bars and the player slide away as you scroll. |
| Landscape full screen | Phones | The text alone, held sideways. |
| Projection Mode | Tablets and computers | The text alone and large, for a room. See Projection Mode. |
Why did the bar and the player disappear?
Fullscreen Reading is on. Scroll up a little and they return. To keep them in place, turn the switch off in the ☰ menu. On an iPhone in Browse, the tab bar at the foot still slides away with the switch off.
How do I leave Landscape full screen?
Tap the ✕ at the top right.
Why does the website ask me to turn my phone?
Landscape full screen is read sideways, and a website cannot turn a phone. The app turns the screen for you.
Is there a full screen on an iPad, a Mac or a computer?
Yes, Projection Mode, which also leaves only the text. Fullscreen Reading works on every screen too.
