Continue reading where you left off
How the site keeps your place in a sermon you have read for a while, where Home offers it again, and what does not count.
On this page
When you have read a sermon for a while, the site keeps your place and offers to carry on from there. The offer appears on Home, and in a slim line when you open another sermon. Your place is kept with your account, so it follows you to your other devices.
What makes the site keep your place
About five minutes of reading at your own pace, in one stretch; a short sermon needs less. Scrolling fast, jumping around or leaving the page open does not count, and your place moves only as you read on.
The first time your place in a sermon is kept, the bar at the top says Kept in Continue reading for a few seconds. A recording is kept in Continue listening once you have listened to it for a couple of minutes.
Carry on
- On Home, Continue reading and Continue listening show the sermons you left part way. Tap one to reopen it at your place; See all shows the whole list.
- Open another sermon at its start, and a slim line in the bar offers the unfinished one. It gives way to the sermon’s name as you scroll, and the ✕ puts it away.
- Under You, the Reading and Listening pills list them too. Remove from Continue takes one off, and Clear all empties the list.
When your place moves
Changing the language, changing the text size or turning on side by side keeps the paragraph you are on. Your place moves only when you read on.
Why is my sermon not in Continue reading?
It may not have been read long enough, or at a reading pace. It may be a plan’s reading, which has its own place. Or you may be signed out, or not have confirmed your address yet.
Do I need an account?
Yes: your place is kept with your account, and nothing is kept without one. See Create an account.
Will my place follow me to another device?
Yes, once you are signed in on both. See Your account on every device.
Does changing language or text size lose my place?
No. A new language, a new text size or Side by side keeps the paragraph you are on.
How do I take a sermon off the list?
Open the menu on its card and choose Remove from Continue, or use Clear all under You to empty the list.
