Hold a question to chosen sermons
Choose up to three sermons by title or code so the answer comes from those alone, and clear the choice when you want to ask of them all.

When you want to know what one sermon says, and not what all of them say, hold your question to it. Choose up to three sermons, and the answer is made from those alone.
Choose the sermons
- Tap the + at the left of the question box. Its name is Search within a sermon.
- Type part of a title, or a sermon code such as 63-0318. Two letters are enough to start the list.
- Tap a sermon to add it. Repeat for up to three.
- Close the list and write your question. The box now reads Ask a question about these sermons…
Titles are looked up in French when the site is in French, and in English in the other languages. The code works in every language.
What the choice does
- The chosen sermons show above the box as small tags, each with a cross to remove it, and Clear takes them all off.
- Three is the most. At three, remove one to add another.
- Every question in the conversation stays held to them until you clear them, and each question shows the sermons it was asked of.
- A new conversation starts with no sermon chosen.
The answer then draws on those sermons alone. It names no other sermon. If they do not speak to your question, it says so without concluding that he never spoke about it, since the rest of his sermons were not searched.
This is also the way to ask for a summary of one sermon: the answer follows it from beginning to end, in his words, every point with its paragraph.
Other ways in
- Name the sermon in your question, by title or by code. It is picked up too, but choosing it holds the question to it for certain.
- In Browse, the Ask in your own words button, a sparkle next to the search box, asks a question held to the sermon you were searching. Search inside sermons shows where it is.
Can I choose more than three sermons?
No. Three is the most. To cover more, remove the choice and ask of all the sermons.
I cannot find a sermon by its title.
Titles are searched in French on the French site and in English elsewhere. Try fewer words, or the code.
Does the choice stay for my next question?
Yes, in the same conversation. Tap Clear to ask of all the sermons again.
What if the chosen sermon does not answer?
The answer says that those sermons do not seem to speak to it. That does not mean he never spoke about it: ask of all the sermons, or reword the question.
